Walkthrough Step 1 - RPG to Modernize
RPG Programs to Modernize
Before using Wings you must identify the RPG programs and display files that will be modernized with Wings Display Files.
For this walkthrough we'll be using two RPG programs; CUSTINQ which uses a display file named CUSTDSPF and ORDHINQ which uses a display file named ORDHDSPF. We'll modernize the CUSTDSPF display file but not the ORDHDSPF display file. We'll do this to show how Wings' built-in 5250 emulator presents non-modernized displays such as ORDHDSPF. You should be able to apply these steps to any similar set of programs and Display Ffles
All four of these objects are in the RPMONGER library. On a 5250 display, CUSTINQ looks like Figure 1-1 below:
Figure 1-1.
Figure 1.1 shows the main work-with panel provided by CUSTINQ composed of record formats in CUSTDSPF. Task 2, which allows the updating of a customer account, shows the display below in Figure 1.2.
Figure 1-2.
The display in Figure 1-2 is also composed of record formats in CUSTDSPF.
Figure 1-3.
If you use Task 11, from Figure 1-1, program ORDHINQ is called and shows the display above, using record formats from ORDHDSPF. We'll modernize CUSTDSPF, the display file rendered in Figures 1-1 and 1-2; we will not modernize ORDHDSPF, which renders the display in Figure 1-3 above.
