Installing Wings on Windows Platforms

This document describes the process of installing Wings components and the Wings development environment (Visual Studio) on Windows machines.

Install the Wings Modernization Environment

On each PC on which you will do ASNA Wings modernization work

NOTE: To install the PC components be sure you are logged into the PC as an administrator.

1. Install Visual Studio 2019

2. Install ASNA Wings 10.0

On each PC on which you will run ASNA Wings modernized applications

Install Web Browser

Install or ensure the PC has one of the following web browsers: Windows Internet Explorer 9 or higher, Firefox 3.6 or higher, or Google Chrome 8.0 or higher.

To get the most out of the (HTML5-based) enhancements introduced in Wings 6.1, use at least IE 9, Firefox 11, or Chrome 8.

On the Windows Web Server

  1. Internet Information Server (IIS) – This is the HTTP server that comes with Windows Server 2008 R2 and 2012.
  2. ASNA DataGate Webpak – This provides ASNA Wings runtime access to the IBM i.
